DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



+ This position is a technical position that writes database queries and analyzes data to answer education related questions or to build reports that are used for decision making by education leaders; therefore, accuracy and timelines is of extreme importance.


+ Uses a high-level of analytic skill to evaluate and assist in the development and refinement of business requirements for reports and data retrieval.


+ Develops a detailed knowledge of metadata related to education data, including where data are stored and how these data can be retrieved accurately and efficiently.


+ Creates, modifies, and maintains complete and accurate documentation and version control for all assignments. All documentation and programming files are maintained in a logical order so that they can be easily retrieved.


+ Uses quality control best practices to ensure accurate reporting.


+ Ability to quickly develop skills necessary to effectively use data management tools to retrieve data.


+ Generates code and files for standard and ad hoc reports for internal and external customers.


+ Evaluates and improves systems/programs to meet best practices for processing efficiency.






MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



+ A Bachelor's degree or an Associate degree and two (2) years of related experience in data analysis


+ Experience with education data is preferred but not require






KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



+ Advanced analytical skills including the ability to think logically and to analyze and solve problems


+ Advanced knowledge of data management processes and data quality practices


+ Experience in SQL programming or SAS suite of products and data structures


+ Experience in logically organizing information for usability


+ Experience in writing code, testing and debugging computer programs/queries


+ Experience in formatting of statistical-based reports and publications


+ Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel and Outlook


+ Skilled in communicating technical information to non-technical business users.
